This is one of our favorite dahlias that we've been growing at Full Cycle Farm for many years. We dig the tuber clumps each fall, store them over the winter, and then replant after the danger of hard frost. In the Maxwelton Valley, our last frost date has typically been early May...that last frost date is pushing earlier each year with a changing climate. Check the last frost date for your area to be sure.

Once you've planted your dahlia tuber, don't water it (rainwater is fine) until you see the first green shoots poking up through the soil. If slugs are a problem for you, be diligent with your favorite anti-slug remedy, as dahlia shoots are susceptible to slugs. As the soil warms up, your dahlia tubers will start pushing out new growth with abandon up until the first hard frosts of the fall.

You will receive a generous tuber or small tuber clump with at least one viable eye (but likely more) at the crown.
